To start off the year with something fresh, I’ve updated my “Favorite Fujifilm film simulation settings” article to reflect a new less-is-more approach for 2019: just one color and one black & white film simulation! You can read all about it here.

I wish there was a way to recreate the film simulation recipes in Lightroom. While the SOC JPEGs are great, I often need to correct for perspective distortion and my images not being level. I want to keep the RAW image in case I want to change how I processed an image. So it seems I have to copy both the JPEG and RAW to Lightroom which of course bloats my storage needs.

I suppose it’s possible to get close, it’s just a matter of patience to fine tune the raw file using the in-built camera film simulations in Lightroom as a starting point. Lately I’ve been using Capture One and I was able to create a preset for the raw files that looks very similar to the color film simulation I describe here on the article.
